Abstaining from idle words is the beauty of Islam

There is a saying in our society, 'Words don't kill you'. But the reality is that even if the words are not wet, people are wet. Sometimes just a careless talk can make people into a mess. Many times people have to fall into great danger just because of word of mouth.

Abstaining from idle words is the beauty of Islam

For this reason we should give up useless talk. Vain talk and deed are not befitting of a believer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'One of the beauties of Islam for a person is to give up meaningless words or actions.' (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2318)

Sometimes one word can cause a lifetime of grief.

In some cases a single word can send people to eternal hell. May cause the displeasure of Almighty Allah. On the authority of Bilal Ibn al-Harith al-Muzani (RA), he said, I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say, "Whoever among you speaks of the pleasure of Allah, which he does not even imagine where it will reach, But because of his words, Allah Ta'ala wrote down His pleasure for him until the day he meets him. And who among you ever speaks of Allah's displeasure, about which he does not even think how far it will reach.

But because of these words, Allah Ta'ala writes displeasure for him until the day he meets him. (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2319)

Proof of this is Iblis Satan. A single sentence damned him till the Day of Judgment. It is mentioned in the holy Korban, 'He said, O Iblis! What prevented you from prostrating to Him whom I created with My hands? Are you arrogant, or are you more dignified? He said, I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from mud.

He said, Get out of here, because surely you are an outcast. And surely my curse will be upon you, till the day of karma.' (Surah: Sawad, Verses: 75-78)

It is not allowed to talk in vain even for the purpose of pleasing people. It is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, 'And some of the people, without knowing, purchase idle talk to mislead people from the path of Allah, and they take it as a joke; For them is a humiliating punishment.' (Surah: Luqman, verse: 6)

And if those words are meant to hurt people, it is more dangerous. Poet Yaqub Hamduni said, 'There is healing from sword wounds, but there is no healing from tongue wounds.' (Tajul Urus, page 373)

Believers cannot do that. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'A believer is never a blamer, a curser, a swearer or an abuser.' (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2013)

Therefore, we all should avoid all kinds of useless words and actions. Focusing on attaining the pleasure of Almighty Allah.
